If Dr. Seuss were a surfer, he'd dig Andy Davis. The Leucadia-based artist, Davis, isn't the esoteric mess that some surf artists tend to be. He doesn't take himself too seriously. His art is simple, fun and captures the soulful aesthetic of riding waves. From canvas to cotton Ts, Davis' work has a Saturday-morning-cartoon quality and Dr. Seuss-ish infusion that is both playful and refreshing in its simplicity.  Davis has enjoyed a successful track record in apparel, building four successful clothing lines, each a spin off of the previous one - Free, Byrd Clothing, Freebyrd Clothing, and his latest venture, Ando and Friends. In addition to designs that are uniquely Andy Davis, his T-shirts feature a clever, tongue-in-cheek humor. Seemingly always on the lookout for new projects and new people to work with, Davis has a healthy collaborative portfolio with creative partners that include Thomas Campbell, Andrew Kidman, Patagonia and Surfrider Foundation among others. If there's one thing you can say about Andy Davis, it's that the guy is busy. So, when we had the chance to catch up with him at his home studio, we jumped at the opportunity. Davis shed some light onto his collected works, collabs and how life in Andoland translates to his art.
